GEOTECHNICAL DRILLING 
(SPT)

The Path to Success

Geotechnical drilling provides subsurface information while collecting soil/rock samples and conducting in-place soil/rock field testing.

Through this test engineers can sample and test organic materials throughout the site, alerting contractors to unsuitable foundation soils such as loose coarse-grained soils, peats, or soft fine-grained soils.

This allow engineers to evaluate the stability and strength of the ground, including slopes and soil deposits, assess risks such as soil aggressivity to buried concrete, and help to determine what type of foundations and earthworks would be required within a projects.

SOIL PERCOLATION TEST

(Open Hole Constant-Head)

The soil percolation rate indicates how quickly water moves through soil and helps evaluate the ability of the soil to absorb and treat effluent. The percolation rate is measured in minutes per inch (mpi) or gallons per minutes (gpm).

SOIL DENSITY TEST

Compaction Test

The field density test measures the relative density of soil compacted using compacting equipment; this test's result is expressed in %.


This relative density is measured by comparing the maximum dry density obtained from the field test with the maximum dry density of the laboratory test as a standard reference. The hole process is monitored and Certified by a professional Geotechnical Engineer following local building department specifications.

Knowing the field density of the soils enables the estimation of the soil-bearing capacity, evaluation of the pressure on underlying strata, and computation of the settlement and stability.
